Stand tall and let the wind blow. It's for your good.

 In nature, trees that grow up in a windy environment become stronger. As winds whip around a young sapling, forces inside the tree do two things.

First, they stimulate the roots to grow faster and spread farther. Second, the forces in the tree start creating cell structures that actually make the trunk and branches thicker and more flexible to the pressure of the wind. These stronger roots and branches protect the tree from winds that are sure to return.

Professional growth comes to salespeople that take on challenges with determination to succeed.

Good Timber

by Douglas Malloch

"The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow."

What's the poet's message? People, like trees, grow and reach their true potential by overcoming adversity. It is only through struggles, like a tree fighting through forest growth to reach the sun, that we grow and discover our true potential.

 View the winds of life - and even the whirlwinds - for what they are: tests, temptations, distractions, or challenges to help you grow.

Stand tall and let the wind blow.

Good luck, good selling, and good growing.
